2018-2019 Umbrella Program
“Youth Mental Wellness Matters”
In partnership with the Lincoln Memorial Academy Charter School, the Bradenton/Sarasota (FL) Links Chapter of The Links, Incorporated planned and implemented the “Youth Mental Wellness Matters” program which provided awareness and facilitated a mental wellness program supporting the maintenance of social, emotional, and behavioral health to reduce mental health barriers in the Bradenton/Sarasota communities of color through education, health advocacy and community partnerships to at-risk youth. In addition, the program fostered positive social interactions, self-esteem and self-worth among the students.
Through a sequence of five curated learning sessions during the 2018 – 2019 academic year, participating sixth-grade students aged 9-13 received education about the importance of mental health to overall wellness and deepen their awareness about mental health issues. In addition, the program fostered positive social interactions, self-esteem and self-worth among the students.
